COOTIE CATCHER

“IT IS THIN LIKE PAPER,

FLEXIBLE LIKE PAPER,

LIGHT LIKE PAPER,

AND IT LIGHTS UP LIKE LG“

COOTIE CATCHER IS A LAMP IN WHICH LIGHT BECOMES PAPER. OLED HAS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF BEING THIN, FLEXIBLE AND AS LIGHTWEIGHT AS PAPER. THIS IS THE REASON WHY THE CONCEPT WAS BORN FROM THE IDEA OF USING THIS MATERIAL AS IN THE CLASSIC JAPANESE ORIGAMI, GIVING IT A REINTERPRETATION. USE LIGHT TO CREATE THE EFFECT

THAT IS TRADITIONALLY GIVEN BY THE CELLULOSE.

THE LAMP IS AS FLEXIBLE AS ORIGAMI AND CAN BE PLACED IN TWO POSITIONS, OPEN OR CLOSED. IT CAN BECOME A CEILING LAMP TO CREATE A DIFFUSED LIGHT; A TABLE LAMP, SUCH AS AN ORNAMENT TO HAVE A MORE SOFT EFFECT; OR IT CAN BE A WALL-MOUNTED LAMP.

THE OLED IS PRESENT ON 4 EXTERNAL FACES WHEN THE LAMP IS IN THE CLOSED POSITION. WHEN THE LAMP IS OPEN,

THE OTHER 4 INTERNAL FACES ARE VISIBLE IN WHICH THE OLED IS APPLIED. THE ALUMINIUM BODY GIVES FLEXIBILITY

AND LIGHTNESS TO THE OBJECT.

IN COOTIE CATCHER THE LIGHT REPLACED TRADITIONAL PAPER, THANKS TO THE USE OF OLED. IT IS THE ONLY LIGH SOURCE THAT CAN BE THIN, FLEXIBLE AND LIGHT AT THE SAME TIME AND CAN THEREFORE BE USED FOR A LAMP THAT REPRESENTS AN ORIGAMI OBJECT THAT CAN TAKE DIFFERENT MOVEMENTS.

IN THIS WAY THE LIGHT BECOMES A REAL AND TOUCHABLE MATERIAL.
